ANCOP Seminarian

ruel2

We met Ruel Predicala thru our ANCOP education sponsorship program.

He just started his seminary studies in Holy Trinity College Seminary in Bicol.

This Christmas, he wrote:

“It is my worth to remember you this Christmas, to include you in all the masses that I have attended, and to thank you because you are a gift given by God. Do not be so worried of the gifts you want to give because you have given me much since you have helped Jesus to be born in my life.”

Let us continue to pray for him as he approaches his ordination this semester.

@ 2017 Family Day Car Raffle Draw
Kids wrestled their energies in the jumping castle while parents were decorating the pavilion with buntings and photo booth corners.  The ‘Kuyas’ and ‘Ates’ (older male and female siblings) were organising games, women were busy setting up the food while a couple of men were tirelessly chopping lechon (roast pig). There were presentations for cheers and chant and dances and of course community prayer and worship.

It was a day of gathering the family and being with other families.  But, miles and miles beyond, we were celebrating together with hundreds of endangered families in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands who are beneficiaries or past beneficiaries of CFC-ANCOP’s mission with the poor.  After all, when we send a poor child to school, we help ease the burden that financial strain often brings to couples who are the pillars of the family.  When we provide employment-generating skills to fathers and mothers, it is a hope that sparks joy and peace of mind in the home.  When we provide housing for victims of calamities, it is an encouragement for the family to come together and gather strength despite the challenges amidst them.  At the heart of CFC-ANCOP’s mission with the poor is strengthening families which is at the core of every properly functioning society.  Beyond, calling it a donation, every giving to CFC-ANCOP is actually one’s participation in this partnership with every family in this network, both givers and receivers.

Let us then take this opportunity to thank all of you who took time to get to know, supported and promoted ANCOP’s work through this car raffle (and other events we had this year).  Thank you for our corporate partners past and present.

Through your generosity and tireless efforts and prayers from the entire CFC-ANCOP team, the car raffle allowed us to generate over $80,000.  This means, ANCOP can sustain the cost of education and livelihood training of over 600 students-beneficiaries for next year.  This is a miracle considering 3 weeks before the draw, the amount of tickets sold was only a slim margin above $8000!  Mores so, at the planning stage, we targeted gross ticket sales at $90,000 albeit knowing this was a really big and hard target to achieve. It was announced during the draw that we were shy from the target but a huge achievement nevertheless.   But, God is a God of surprises.  The winner of the car told us that they actually wanted and even prayed that if they win, they will donate the car back to ANCOP.  Our joy overflows in behalf of all the children and families who will benefit from this event.  God really answers the cry of the poor!

ANCOP and Forexworld: Delivering love and hope to Filipino families

"Go out there and do your best and know that there are people out in the world who really care about and love you and hope that you become successful through the program (of ANCOP); grab the opportunity with both hands, work hard, and stay positive.”

This is the message of Enrique Campos Jr., Director of Forexworld Australia, to the beneficiaries of CFC ANCOP Australia.  ANCOP is short for Answering the Cry of the Poor and is an Australian charity organisation whose main work is encouraging poor families to strive their way out of poverty through education.

Both Forexworld and ANCOP find congruence in their desire to strengthen the family—connecting and delivering a symbol of their love and presence to the family members left behind in the Philippines.  Forexworld started in 1997 as a cargo business delivering balikbayan boxes catering to Filipinos in Australia who are sending goods back home.  As Campos Jr. said, “…whether it’s Christmas or not, if there is a balikbayan box that arrives, it’s kind of like Christmas again.  Everyone gathers around and open this box full of love as the person here put a lot of time and effort in sending something…”  The company then added money remittance to their business in 2004 for those families here in Australia who are better off, to help their less fortunate family members back home.

Aside from expanding into the travel business in 2009, a few years ago, Forexworld also added food delivery into their remittance product.  Through their partners in the Philippines, Filipino-Australians can now be a part of every family parties and gatherings back home by contributing to the occasion through food like Jollibee and Max’s.

Toyota Chatswood and CFC ANCOP Australia renew their partnership to raise funds to help poor families in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Island.

For the second time running, Toyota Chatswood is providing the grand prize of a new Corolla Ascent Sport for the biennial car raffle fund raising activity of ANCOP.

Chatswood and Ryde Toyota Managing Director, Ian Mayer, commended ANCOP for the terrific wok that they do. Mr Mayer himself lived in the Philippines for two years as a child when his father, an executive for Qantas was assigned to work in Manila in 1969. That’s why, when ANCOP approached Toyota to be a partner for the fundraising event, Mr Mayer said “it was a natural fit”.

“Every company or every executive who has the opportunity to help should always help. You’re a highly valued organisation and our business tries to be highly valued as well. We have four core values and we try to live those everyday”, explained Mr Mayer. This month of September, their staff raised about $50,000 for children and adults living with cerebral palsy.Mr Mayer added that there are many worthwhile causes and it’s important to go out there and support the community.

ANCOP Christmas Gift Giving 2016

It's been a Christmas tradition for the Auburn-Bankstown chapter of CFC Australia to fundraise for the Aeta communities of Capas, Tarlac. The money is used to buy food items and other necessities to be distributed around Jan-Feb the following Year.

Lito Policarpio (Ancop head in the Tarlac province) facilitated the distribution of goods on the 12 of February 2017, to 125 families from 3 ANCOP villages - Patal Bato, Santa Juliana and Magurlu.

The event which was originally organised by Dom and Josie Pangilinan and later on have been spearheaded by Cleng Estigoy. Dom and Josie are still providing continuous support to these communities on their own on a regular basis.

ANCOP Australia would like to thank all who donated to make all this possible.
